BONANZA Ahead of SHIMIWI 2026 Turns Into a Resounding Success

The morning of August 15, 2026, saw Dodoma transformed into an arena of excitement, competition, cheers, whistles, unity and celebration. Public servants from various institutions left their offices and took to the field—running, pulling ropes, passing the ball and cheering one another on, all as part of preparations for the 2026 Public Servants Sports Games (SHIMIWI 2026).

 

The special Bonanza was not merely about winning. It was a winning pass for building healthy bodies, friendships and a stronger team of public servants.

 

Chief Secretary Dr. Moses Kusiluka commended the Ministry of Public Service and Good Governance for continuing to promote sports among public servants, stressing that sports contribute to good health, stronger relationships and improved productivity at the workplace.

Representing him at the event, the Permanent Secretary of Public Service Management and Good Governance, Juma Seleiman Mkomi, delivered the message effectively, noting that sports give public servants an opportunity to know one another better, strengthen solidarity and enhance cooperation in carrying out government responsibilities.

 

Emphasising the importance of sports—and receiving loud cheers from the public servants—Mkomi urged Directors and Human Resources Officers to ensure that employees are given time, equipment and a supportive environment to participate in sports.

Dr. Kusiluka also called for sports to become part of the culture of public institutions across the country.

 

On the field, the President’s Office, Records and Archives Department was certainly not left on the bench. Its teams took part in various sporting activities, including football and tug-of-war, demonstrating that preparations for SHIMIWI 2026 have kicked off with serious momentum.

 

There was no room for spectators on this team—every public servant was a player, every game was a training session, and every act of solidarity was a victory.

And while the games were unfolding, Mwanakwetu apparently made the most of the occasion, striking up a friendship with a charming lady from the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports. The two reportedly exchanged phone numbers—but her name remains a well-guarded secret.

 

Indeed, this Bonanza seems to have produced more than sporting victories!

 

Those public servants who missed the Bonanza, meanwhile, may well feel they missed a golden opportunity.

All these moments were a clear sign that the whistle has blown and the race to SHIMIWI 2026 is officially underway.

 

From the office to the field, the goal remains one: health, solidarity, discipline and productivity in the Public Service.
